Donate to and Support the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation
The Bluegrass Heritage Foundation is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization that works year-round to help make live bluegrass music happen in north Texas, to put instruments into the hands of young people through our Play It Forward!® Free Instrument Lending Program, and to provide scholarship assistance to young people who want to attend bluegrass and acoustic music camps and programs.
People often ask, “how may I help?” You may help in any or all of these ways:
Cash donations. You can make a one-time donation or set up a monthly recurring donation through your bank “bill pay” function or PayPal. We’ll send you a donation receipt for the amount you donate each year. You may mail your donation to us at P. O. Box 25032, Dallas Texas 75225.
Memorial and Honorary donations. Make a donation in honor of a loved one in lieu of flowers or to celebrate a special achievement. When a Memorial or Honorary donation is received, we will send a personalized letter to the person or family indicated, notifying them of your thoughtful gift but not revealing the amount. (You may also remain anonymous.) If you prefer, we can send the letter to you so that you can deliver it in person. Our Memorial Giving and Honorary Donation form page is here.
IRA Required Minimum Distributions. After age 72, most traditional IRA accounts required minimum annual withdrawals, and the penalty for skipping it is 50% of the amount that should have been withdrawn. You can avoid income tax on your required withdrawal by donating the money directly to a qualifying charity like Bluegrass Heritage Foundation. Individuals may donate up to $100,000 per year directly to eligible charities.
Appreciated Stock. Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or real estate may provide you with an income tax deduction based on the fair market value of the gift and eliminate all capital gains taxes. This would allow you to make a substantially greater gift than otherwise would have been possible for the same out-of-pocket cost.
Planned gifts and Bequests. There are many ways to leave a planned gift or bequest to the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation and to support our Play It Forward!® Program. For planned giving and bequest options, we strongly encourage you to talk with your professional advisors (CPA and estate lawyer) in advance. A few options are described on our Planned Giving page. Just contact us and we’ll help make it happen.
New and used bluegrass instruments and cases. We put instruments into the hands of young people nearly every month through our Play It Forward!® Program. Donate your gently-used, playable fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, or dobro today! Just contact us and we’ll work out the details.
In-kind donations. We always need interesting items to use as raffle or silent auction prizes at our events. These can include merchandise, gift cards, airline points, professional services, dining experiences – and much more! Use our In-Kind Donation form page, download the PDF form, or contact us to donate today.
The Bluegrass Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. The Foundation’s tax identification number is 61-1556305. You may download a copy of our IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter here.
